Anita Knight Kuhnley knows firsthand the challenges that foster children face. She spent her childhood in and out of foster care, witnessing firsthand the system's failures.

But instead of letting her experiences define her, Anita used them as motivation to make a difference in the lives of other foster children. Today, she is a successful businesswoman, author, and advocate for children. Her story is one of resilience, determination, and the power of human connection.

A Childhood in Foster Care

Anita was born in 1963 to a teenage mother who was struggling with addiction. After her mother was arrested, Anita was placed in foster care at the age of two. She spent the next 10 years in and out of foster homes, often feeling lost and alone.

"I remember feeling like I didn't belong anywhere," Anita said. "I was always the new kid in school, and I never had any friends who I could really count on."

Despite the challenges she faced, Anita never gave up on her dreams. She knew that she wanted to make a difference in the world, and she was determined to do whatever it took to achieve her goals.

Finding Her Way

At the age of 18, Anita left foster care and enrolled in college. She worked her way through school, and eventually earned a degree in social work.

After college, Anita began working with foster children. She quickly realized that the system was still failing many children, and she was determined to find a way to make a difference.

In 1995, Anita founded The Anita Knight Kuhnley Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping foster children succeed. The foundation provides a variety of services to children in foster care, including mentoring, tutoring, and financial assistance.

A Woman of Influence

Today, Anita Knight Kuhnley is a recognized expert on foster care. She has testified before Congress on the need for reform, and she has written a book about her experiences called "Outside the Fence: A Foster Child's Journey to Success."

Anita is also a successful businesswoman. She is the owner of several companies, including a consulting firm and a real estate development company.

But despite her success, Anita has never forgotten her roots. She remains committed to helping foster children, and she believes that every child deserves a chance to succeed.

The Power of Human Connection

Anita's story is a testament to the power of human connection. Despite the challenges she faced, she never gave up on her dreams because she had people who believed in her.

"I am so grateful for the people who helped me along the way," Anita said. "They gave me hope, and they showed me that anything is possible."

Anita's story is a reminder that we all have the power to make a difference in the lives of others. By simply reaching out to someone who is struggling, we can help them find their way.
